What is Summit?

• A shared catalog of academic libraries in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, containing hundreds of thousands of items.

What can I request from Summit?

• Books, DVDs, CDs, and other physical items

How do I request items from Summit?

• Use UP Library Search.
• When you find an item you wish to request, choose the title of the item to see the full details.
• Choose Sign in, and enter your UP username and password.
• Choose Request from Summit.
• Select Request.

How long does it take for Summit items to arrive?

• About a week.

How will I know when my Summit item is available?

• You will receive an email from the library indicating that your item is ready to be picked up from the Service Desk during our open hours. You will have one week to come in to pick it up.

How long can I borrow Summit items?

• 12 weeks for all items (books, DVDs, etc.)

Can Summit items be renewed?

• Yes, items may be renewed once. To renew your items, sign in to your UP Library Search Account and select Check Outs.
• If you need other materials past the due date, request another copy.

How can I return items?

• Bring them to the Service Desk during our open hours, or drop them in our book drop, to the left of the main entrance.

What is WorldCat?

• A catalog showing items owned by U.S. and some international libraries

What can I request from WorldCat?

• Books, DVDs, CDs, back issues of newspapers on microfilm, and other physical items

How do I request items from WorldCat?

• Use the WorldCat search box above (if you are off-campus, you will be prompted to login as a UP user).
• Find a book that you wish to request.
• On the page with the full information about the book, choose the Request this book link.
• You will be connected to the UP ILLiad interlibrary loan system. Login with your UP network username and password. 
• Make sure the posted information is correct, then choose the Submit Request button

How long does it take for Interlibrary Loan items to arrive?

• 7-10 days (depending on where the lending library is located)

How will I know when my Interlibrary Loan item is available?

• You will receive an email from the library indicating that your item is ready to be picked up from the Library Service Desk

How long can I borrow items requested through Interlibrary Loan?

• Books: 6 weeks
• DVDs, CDs, media: 6 days

Can Interlibrary Loan items be renewed?

• Some Interlibrary Loan items can be renewed; look at the purple sticker on the front of the item for information about renewal options
