LGBTQIA+ at UP

Welcome to this LGBTQIA+ Resources guide! Here you will find resources for and about the LGBTQIA+ community at UP and beyond.

Health and Counseling

Another important resource here on campus is the Health and Counseling Center where you can schedule medical/mental health appointments with the UP staff who are committed to diversity and the inclusion of the LGBTQIAPN+ community.

The Rainbow Round Table
Part of the American Library Association (ALA), the Rainbow Round Table is committed to serving the LGBTQIA+ population at large and professional communities.
The Trevor Project
A non-profit, suicide prevention organization that operates a free 24 suicide prevention hotline for LGBTQIA+ youth.

Here At UP

Here at the University of Portland we have many organizations that aim to promote the inclusivity of the LGBTQIA+ community for example the GSP or Gender & Sexuality Partnership which seeks to offer a safe and open space for LGBTQ+ students and brings together students of all different identities and backgrounds. Refuge Restrooms App

Refuge Restrooms
Refuge Restrooms is a web application that seeks to provide safe restroom access for transgender, intersex, and gender nonconforming individuals. Users can search for restrooms by proximity to a search location and add new restroom listings, as well as comment and rate existing listings.

The Trans Lifeline provides specific support for the Trans, Non-binary and Gender-nonconforming communities.

The LGBTQ+ National Hotline is open from the hours of Monday through Friday, 1:00pm – 9:00pm / Saturday, 9:00am – 2:00pm to help with varying issues members of the community might face.

TBUDDY is a resource for transmasc people so that they might gain guidance from other transmasc members of the community. Visit their website here to make a 30 minute appointment (appointment types include text, phone and virtual)

Local Community Groups

SMYRC
A safe space for Queer youth (aged 13-23) to just exist in a LGBTQ+ space with other community members. They have many varying events such as open mic nights and drag shows. They also provide access to resources such as counseling, school support and more.
amBi PDX
A local bisexual community that hosts events and activities around metro Portland.
PFLAG Portland
PFLAG Portland is an an online support group community that is offered twice per month. PFLAG offers a way to connect with fellow community members.
SASS Online Support Group
The SASS or Sexual Assault Support Services offers twice monthly support groups for members of the queer community ages 18 and up who have experienced sexual violence.
