MUS 414/414X: History of Jazz: Class Activity

Class Activity

Work with your group members to explore the online resource that you have been assigned.

  1. Search for the name of a jazz musician or group. Try a well known musician / group (suggestions: Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis). Try a lesser known person / group. Which searches are / are not successful in finding information?

  2. What can you find about your musician/group, their works, and their influence on jazz?

  3. Do you see information about specific songs or albums?

  4. What tips do you have for others using this resource?

Be prepared to talk about one of the resources that you found with the group.
