Summer 2021 Library Services: Items You Can Pick Up in Person

New for Summer 2021: Popular Reading and Popular Viewing collections are browsable again.

Use UP Library Search to request items from the Clark Library and Summit collections, and then pick them up at the main floor Service Desk during our open hours. You will receive an email when items are ready. Swipe into the building with your UP ID.

You can send someone to pick up your books, as long as they have your UP ID card in hand. Remind them that they will need the card to get into the building.

Not finding the item you want? Here are your options:

• Order it through our Interlibrary Loan / UP ILLiad service, and we will either
  • mail it to you along with a prepaid return mailing label
  • consider it for an online purchase
• Use the Submit a Request form to suggest a purchase.

You can request print dictionaries and encyclopedias or request scans through interlibrary loan.

• Ask us to scan book chapters for you and deliver them online.
• Order books through our Interlibrary Loan / UP ILLiad service and we will either mail them to you or evaluate for online purchase.

Use UP Library Search to find books, DVDs, online resources, journal articles, and much more from the University of Portland, Summit, and beyond, and request to have physical items brought to the Clark Library's Service Desk. Visit UP Library Search Tips for advice on locating what you need.

What is Summit?

• A shared catalog of academic libraries in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, containing hundreds of thousands of items.

What can I request from Summit?

• Books, DVDs, CDs, and other physical items

How do I request items from Summit?

• Use UP Library Search.
• When you find an item you wish to request, choose the title of the item to see the full details.
• Choose Sign in, and enter your UP username and password.
• Choose Request from Summit.
• Select Request.

How long does it take for Summit items to arrive?

• About a week.

How will I know when my Summit item is available?

• You will receive an email from the library indicating that your item is ready to be picked up from the Service Desk during our open hours. You will have one week to come in to pick it up.

How long can I borrow Summit items?

• 12 weeks for all items (books, DVDs, etc.)

Can Summit items be renewed?

• Yes, items may be renewed once. To renew your items, sign in to your UP Library Search Account and select Check Outs.
• If you need other materials past the due date, request another copy.

How can I return items?

• Bring them to the Service Desk during our open hours, or drop them in our book drop, to the left of the main entrance.
