Anti-Oppression: Anti-Cissexism

Note

This page is intended to provide some general information about combatting cissexism, which is defined by activist and scholar Julia Serano as “the belief or assumption that cis people’s gender identities, expressions, and embodiments are more natural and legitimate than those of trans people.”. It is by no means exhaustive, but rather serves as a starting place for finding information from a variety of sources. It will continue to develop in response to evolving issues and community needs. You can find a longer list of resources on our associated spreadsheet, and through the UP Library Search catalog. If you would like to suggest additional resources or provide feedback, please contact Reference/Instruction Librarian Heidi Senior.
