COM 225: Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others: Evaluating Sources

What does peer reviewed mean?

Learning from the journal publisher's web site

You can identify a journal article by "Editorial Board" presence. Also, the authors are experts, and article acceptance data is provided.

Primary and Secondary Sources

Scholarship is a conversation, and one of the ways that conversation is conducted is through publications. Primary literature starts the conversation by presenting original research, scientific findings, first-hand accounts of an event, or other original work. Secondary literature continues the conversation by interpreting, summarizing, analyzing, or commenting on primary literature. The following video will help you distinguish between these two types of information sources.
