If you can identify a single chapter from any book, whether owned by UP or not, the Clark Library will obtain a PDF of the chapter for you. To get a book chapter:
Note: you can request the table of contents through interlibrary loan, if you don't find what you need using the tips below.
In the UP Library Search catalog, the full record for a book will sometimes have a list of chapter titles.
In the Details section, look for:
Title = Book title
Contents = Chapter titles
We can obtain up to 10% of each book, whether owned by UP or not, due to copyright law.
To abide by copyright law, Clark Library considers four factors of Fair Use, including "the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole." Staff also consult copyright guidelines.

To locate page numbers for the chapter you want to order, try these three methods:
1. Try Amazon.com's "Look Inside" feature to see the table of contents, which will likely have the starting page number for each chapter.
2. Look up the book in Google Books, then choose the drop-down menu to see the table of contents, which includes page numbers.
3. Ask for help from the Reference Team:
