Literature Reviews: An Overview For Graduate Students (NCSU)

Locating Literature Reviews in ERIC

The ERIC database has two descriptors related to literature reviews:

  • Literature Reviews: "Surveys of the materials published on a topic"
  • State of the Art Reviews: "Exhaustive, systematic, and often critical reviews of the published or unpublished material on a topic"

Combine them to locate all literature review articles:

Combine State of the Art Reviews with Literature Reviews. Select DE Descriptors from the drop down menu.

Locating Literature Reviews in ProQuest Education Database

Within the ProQuest Education Database, select "Literature Review" under "Document Type" to view all literature reviews.

Select the box next to Literature Review
