EBSCOHost eBooks

EBSCO's EbscoHost eBooks platform strives to comply with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 level A and AA and the U.S. Section 508 Standards of the Federal Rehabilitation Act. Where possible, they go beyond compliance to ensure that all users can have a positive experience with their products and equal access to information. Known limitations of the platform are documented below:

JSTOR

JSTOR instructions for screen reader users:

After you select a JSTOR book in the library catalog, the list of chapters appears in this tab order:

  • Check Box
  • Chapter Title (which is a link)
  • DOI URL (also a link)
  • Download / Save / Cite options

To access the full text of book chapters, either choose Download within the list of chapters, or select the chapter title and then choose Download.  If a PDF is not sufficiently tagged, JSTOR can manually tag PDFs. For more information see the JSTOR support for content accessibility page.

ProQuest Ebook Central

ProQuest Ebook Central has two accessibility settings for patrons who are blind, visually impaired, or dyslexic.

  • Text Only Mode, in which PDF books are presented as plain text instead of images. Some book elements such as headings, images, and charts might be omitted in this mode.
  • Opendyslexic Typeface, in which a book's font will change to OpenDyslexic, an open-source typeface designed to combat symptoms of dyslexia.

To choose one or both of these settings, select Profile in the upper right of the screen and then go to the Accessibility Settings.

Additional information about ProQuest Ebook Central's accessibility features may be found at the ProQuest Ebook Central LibGuide Ebook Central (ProQuest) and through the links below.
