A Note on Web-Based Research Tools

Here are some accessibility settings common to all websites, including the library's web-based research tools:

Resize Text

You can resize text on all websites, including library databases, to help readability for individual users. Follow the instructions below:

PC / all browsers:

  • Increase text size: Hold down the CTRL key and press +
  • Decrease text size: Hold down the CTRL key and press

Mac / all browsers:

  • Increase text size: Hold down the Command key and press +
  • Decrease text size: Hold down the Command key and press

Change Colors

In most browsers, you can standardize text, background, and link colors to ensure adequate contrast. Typically this can be done in the appearance settings, such as the font and color preferences in Firefox. There are also plug-ins that work with certain browsers, such as Change Colors on Google Chrome.
