BIO 107 Library Outcomes

BIO 107 is part of the Core Curriculum for developing information literacy skills.

1. Students will be able to distinguish popular sources from scholarly sources.

2. Students will be able to evaluate the quality of information based on its authoritativeness and other indicators of quality.

3. Students will be able to analyze citations for their completeness and recognize whether citations are to a scholarly or popular source.

BIO 276 Library Outcomes

1. Students will be able to differentiate between research (primary) articles and review (secondary) articles.

2. Students will be able to compose and execute searches in the disciplinary database. 

3. Students will be able to select the sources that are relevant to their lab experiment using journal article abstracts.

4. Students will be able to cite their sources in CSE Name-Year style.

BIO 277 Library Outcomes

1. Students will be able to understand the different levels of information provided by research (primary) articles and review (secondary) articles, and how each type is useful to their literature review process.

2. Students will be able to compose and execute searches to find review articles and research articles in the disciplinary databases. They will understand how to broaden and narrow searches to find relevant articles.

3. Students will be able to find related research in similar systems to apply to their experiments.

4. Students will be able to cite their sources in CSE Name-Year style.
